What are sexual offences?

  • Indecency

    The offence of indecency refers to any act of a sexual nature with or towards another person which the reasonable person would consider to be contrary to community standards of decency. A person who commits this offence is liable to imprisonment for 2 years. Click here for the law
  • Sexual Assault

    The offence of sexual assault will be proved to have been committed when sexual intercourse with another person takes place without the consent of the other and knowledge that the other person does not consent to the sexual intercourse. A person who commits this offence is liable to imprisonment for 14 years.   • Indecent Assault

    Indecent assault occurs when any person who assaults another, at the time, immediately before or after the assault, commits an act of indecency on or in the presence of the other person. A person who commits such crime is liable to imprisonment for 5 years. Click here for the law
  • Obscene Exposure

    Obscene exposure is an illegal act to wilfully and obscenely expose oneself within view from a public place or school. Maximum penalty that may be imposed by the court is 6 months’ imprisonment. Click here for the law
